FLUORITE CRYSTALS SAT INSIDE QUARTTZ EPIMORPHS OF AN EARLIER PHASE OF FLUORITE WITH SPHALERITE AND BRIANYOUNGITE. BOUNDARY CROSS VEIN,RAMPGILL MINE,NENTHEAD,ALSTON MOOR,CUMBERLAND.

A really interesting specimen illustrating several phases of mineralisation of initially fluorite crystals which were then covered with Quartz,Fluorite,Ankerite and selenite. The initial Fluorite was then later removed leaving the Quartz epimorphing that first phase of Fluorites.A later phase of mineralisation re-invested the epimorphs with Fluorite and Sphalerite crystals.Secondary botryoidal aggregates of Brianyoungite now cover the Sphalerites. 14x13 cms.
Recovered by mine explorers from the Boundary Cross Vein, accessed from The Rampgill Level,Nenthead,Alston Moor, Cumberland.
